Alcohol in Phuket is sold from 11:00 to 24:00. It is one national window for shops, minimarkets, supermarkets and restaurants, and the old 14:00–17:00 afternoon break no longer applies. Below: what the hours mean for 7-Eleven and late evenings, what happens after midnight, dry days, and how to get your drinks delivered by ALCOSHOP Phuket before the window closes.

The hours by type of seller are in the table below.

Quick answer: Phuket alcohol sales hours

If you only need the number:

  • 11:00–24:00. The same window applies on Phuket as in the rest of Thailand: shops, minimarkets, supermarkets and restaurants.
  • No 14:00–17:00 break. The afternoon is now part of the normal window.
  • After 24:00 shops stop selling alcohol, so plan your drinks before midnight.
  • Age 20+. Alcohol is sold only to people aged 20 and over.
  • Dry days and elections can stop sales for a whole day: see our guide to Thailand alcohol ban days.
  • The easiest option: order from ALCOSHOP Phuket in the afternoon or evening and get your drinks delivered to your villa or hotel in 20–60 minutes.

Alcohol sale times in Phuket: who sells until when

Current rules · Hours can change by official notice; we update this page when they do.

The general window is one line; the details depend on where you buy.

WhereSale timeWhat it means for you
Shops, minimarkets, supermarkets11:00–24:00One window for all licensed retailers
Restaurants11:00–24:00Same window; serving follows the venue’s licence
HotelsUnder the hotel’s special conditionsOnly for the hotel’s own bar and service
Licensed entertainment venuesWithin their licenceOnly inside the venue

Approved events and designated zonesWithin the permitOnly at the event or in the zone
ALCOSHOP Phuket deliveryOrder before 24:00Drinks to your villa, hotel or condo in 20–60 minutes

The exceptions work under their own permits and only on their own premises: a hotel bar or a club does not change the hours for shops. If you want drinks at your villa or in your room for the whole evening, the simplest way is to order from ALCOSHOP while the window is open.

What changed: the 14:00–17:00 break is gone

Many visitors still remember the old schedule with a daytime pause: the bottle stood on the shelf, but the cashier could not sell it in the middle of the afternoon. Under the current rules that pause is part of the ordinary sales window.

In practice:

  • Before: a break in the afternoon, sales only before and after it.
  • Now: one continuous window, 11:00–24:00.
  • Result: a cold beer at 15:00 is no longer a problem: order it in the afternoon and have it delivered to your villa.

A warning about old information: older articles and forum threads may still describe the break. If a page does not mention the 11:00–24:00 window, treat its hours as out of date.

What time does 7-Eleven sell alcohol in Phuket?

Convenience stores such as 7-Eleven fall under licensed retailers, so the 11:00–24:00 window applies to them, with no afternoon break. A store can still refuse a sale, and without ID a refusal is normal.

If you need more than a couple of cans, for example wine, whiskey and mixers for a group, choose from the ALCOSHOP catalogue instead of carrying bags from the shop: the order comes to your door in 20–60 minutes, and you pay on delivery. Shop, bar and delivery prices are compared in our guide to alcohol prices in Phuket.

Can you buy alcohol after midnight in Phuket?

In an ordinary shop, no: after 24:00 retail sale stops, in a convenience store in Patong as much as in a supermarket in Phuket Town. Hotels, licensed clubs, international airport terminals and approved events work under their own permits, but only on their own premises.

So the practical answer to “what to do after midnight” is to have everything before midnight.

Order before the window closes

The most reliable way not to be left without drinks late in the evening is to order in advance. ALCOSHOP Phuket delivers across the island in 20–60 minutes: you choose in the catalogue, the manager confirms the order, and you pay on delivery.

  • Order in the afternoon or early evening, not at 23:50: delivery takes 20–60 minutes.
  • Add a reserve for the whole night, including guests who arrive late.
  • Do not forget the mixers: tonic, cola and juice stretch the spirits for a group.
  • Do not look for back-door sellers or “friendly arrangements” at night. They are not a plan, and we do not recommend them.

Alcohol delivery in Phuket: why order with ALCOSHOP

ALCOSHOP Phuket is an alcohol delivery service that covers the whole island. Instead of watching the clock at a shop counter, you choose your drinks online and get them at your door, at a villa in Bang Tao, a hotel in Patong or a condo in Rawai.

  • Delivery in 20–60 minutes across Phuket.
  • Delivery costs ฿300; orders from ฿3,000 with the promo code FREE are delivered free.
  • No minimum order: a few beers for the evening are fine too.
  • Pay on delivery in cash (Thai baht or US dollars), or by bank transfer or USDT.
  • No registration and no app: a manager confirms the order.
  • One catalogue for the whole evening: beer, wine, whiskey, vodka, rum, gin, mixers, and even pizza and fruit.

Drinks are sold only to customers aged 20 and over. All terms are on the delivery and payment page.

Who can buy alcohol and where drinking is restricted

Alcohol is sold only to people aged 20 or older, and ALCOSHOP works with customers aged 20+ too. Keep your passport or another ID at hand: a photo of a document may not be accepted.

Sale and drinking are also limited in some public places, among them:

  • temples;
  • government offices;
  • petrol stations;
  • public parks;
  • public transport areas.

Beach rules depend on local announcements, so check them before you open a bottle on the sand. At your villa or hotel terrace the question does not arise.

Dry days and election days: when sales stop completely

Besides the daily window there are days when retail sales stop altogether: five Buddhist holidays a year and election periods. On such a day shops and restaurants do not sell alcohol at all, so the only plan is to order the day before. The holidays follow the Buddhist lunar calendar and the dates change every year: see the full list, fines and a checklist in our guide to Thailand alcohol ban days.

Plan ahead: how to stock up before the hours end

A checklist for the evening:

  1. Look at the clock early: your real deadline is a little before 24:00, not exactly 24:00.
  2. Order with a reserve for the whole evening, including late guests.
  3. Keep your ID at hand: alcohol is sold to 20+ only.
  4. Check for a dry day or an election the day before (see the dry-day guide).
  5. Think in categories: beer, wine, whiskey and vodka cover most evenings.

Pick by situation

  • Beach day. Order in the morning or at lunch so the drinks are cold at your hotel before you head out. Areas: Kata and Rawai.
  • A party at a villa. Order in the afternoon and give the district and the villa address. How much to order: the villa party calculator. Areas: Bang Tao and Kamala.
  • An evening out. Stock the room before the evening rush, so you do not depend on bar hours later. Areas: Patong and Karon.

Choose your drinks in the ALCOSHOP Phuket catalogue. Delivery terms and payment are on the delivery page, and common questions are answered in the FAQ. 20+ only.
